As you may have gathered from my previous posts, I have an interest in WWII and I try and go to places that have significance to the war.
I wanted to go to Dresden because of the strategic significance it played in the war. It had a big munitions factory and easy access to the railway. I also read that Dresden was rebuilt after the war and a lot of it is from post-war and not a lot pre-war. I wanted to go and see how true this was.
I’ll start this post off by saying that I had thought I had already done it. I had a look through and saw that it didn’t exist so I am making up for this now and thank goodness I have pictures that will help me remember what we did 4.5 years ago. I can’t believe […]
I have had a yearning to get back to travelling ever since the government relaxed the restrictions and put countries onto red/amber/green lists. I didn’t care that I had to test or quarantine when I got back – I just wanted to be on a train (or in a car) to the airport, stressing about […]
When I read that countries were starting to open borders again (especially to UK tourists), I was desperate to get away. I was sick of being stuck in Peterborough. I had gotten back to Peterborough on March 6th and hadn’t been on a flight or even anywhere close to an airport during that time. Frankfurt […]

So, I have realised some 18 months later that I never wrote about my trip to Strasbourg and I figure that I should!
Please forgive me if my memory is a bit hazy about it (I have been told it will happen as I am 40 and close to senility! Yeah… thank you like!).
Since we hadn’t done a christmas market in a couple of years, we decided that this year we would make the effort to go to one in the Netherlands and since Germany was so close we would find one we hadn’t been to there. We had some Tesco vouchers that we converted into Eurotunnel vouchers […]
This trip came about because I got an email from Eurostar and just couldn’t help myself. I got this email around September/October time and decided that I would head to Brussels and that I would want to go somewhere from there. I decided that I would head to Germany – and more precisely Aachen. The […]
Our second full day was quite busy. It consisted of the Wall & Lifestyle Tour and the Westend Tour. This post is going to be mostly pictures with a little bit of commentary here and there. After a long and tiring day, we decided to take a boat tour too. It was nice to sit […]
