Before I left for Brazil I was speaking with a Brazilian colleague and I was telling him I was going to Rio. He asked if I had considered Sao Paulo and, honestly, I hadn’t. The only thing I knew about Sao Paulo was that it had one of the biggest cathedrals in the world.I started […]
When I was a missionary in London in 2002 there was a family in the ward who were from Recife in Brazil and when I would hear them talk about Brazil it made me wonder what it would be like to go there and visit. I never really thought I would go but it was […]
Egypt has been off and on my travel list for a few years now. Mostly it’s been off the list as I wasn’t sure how safe it would be to travel to.
I decided that since the train was only $30.00 each way I would go to Washington DC as it wasn’t an overly huge distance from New York City.
This post talks about that part of the trip.
I decided about 4 months ago I wanted to go Stateside again (Duncan went to NYC and he inspired me to want to go back again).
I had a look for flights at a price I wanted to pay. I was lucky and found some. The catch: only a carry on bag was allowed and seat selection was for a fee.
The trip to Berlin this year came about because I was telling Duncan that he should travel more in Europe and that he should visit Berlin.
Back in March of 2020, I went to Milan as part of a wider trip that should have consisted of Georgia and Armenia too. That didn’t quite go according to plan due to a little thing called Covid. You can read about that visit here. Fast forward 30 months (or 2.5 years to you and […]
Maroc: J’ai réussi. Tu ne pouvais pas m’éloigner. Fès: Bonjour! / المغرب: لقد صنعته. لا يمكنك ابقائي بعيدا. فاس: مرحبًا!
I have been trying to get to Morocco for a while now. It’s been on my list for a couple of years and the pandemic was the reason that I haven’t been able to get here until now.
When I was looking at Morocco, I had Casablanca, Marrakesh, and Rabat on the list and I settled on going to Marrakesh as it looked the easiest to get to and the easiest to get around from the airport and around the city. It also helped that it appeared to be the cheapest to fly to out of the three.
As you may have gathered from my previous posts, I have an interest in WWII and I try and go to places that have significance to the war.
I wanted to go to Dresden because of the strategic significance it played in the war. It had a big munitions factory and easy access to the railway. I also read that Dresden was rebuilt after the war and a lot of it is from post-war and not a lot pre-war. I wanted to go and see how true this was.
I think it was sometime back in 2020 when I saw Ryanair had introduced a new route from Stansted to Kosice in Slovakia. I thought since I had liked Bratislava that I would like Kosice. I decided I was going to book it once travel had opened up again (you know, Covid) and for some […]
