I ended 2019 by saying to myself that I have done enough travelling and that I should slow down in 2020.

Well, that didn’t go quite according to plan as I was already booking stuff in November for 2020 and also at the beginning of January I was booking stuff too.

One of the places that I wanted to go back to was Bratislava as I had only been there for a few hours for a Christmas Market in 2015. You can read about that here.

I managed to get some fairly inexpensive flights from Stansted to Bratislava. I also managed to find a cheap hostel (of course I did, i’m the conossieur of finding cheap accommodation!).

I said to myself that I wouldn’t go to Vienna despite it only being an hour away by train as I remembered we didn’t have so much a good time in Vienna. You can read about that here.

Bratislava is a fairly small city so not a lot of time is needed to see the major attractions – especially in the winter.

I had 4 full days on this trip and I did a walking tour and also some self touring too.

As usual, I will talk about what I did each day and provide some pictures.

The trip was tinged with a bit of sadness. I got a message from Jamie to say that Sugar was really unwell and had to be put to sleep. I was on the tram when I got the message and said I would get off and call her but she wasn’t up for talking. I don’t blame her.

I was really sad as I loved that little (or not so much) ball of fur. I told her I was walking around the city and saw a willow tree and that I should get some for Sugar then I remembered he was no longer with us.

I left the hostel and then headed to the airport with a few hours to just chill and have some food and do not a lot.

All in all it was a good trip minus the news about Sugar.
