So, it’s now time for exercise 2. I won’t be posting for about 4 days though as I am off to Great Yarmouth for a mini break.

This exercise requires examination of the 4 steps to ending depression. The steps are as follows:

Step 1 – Understand how depression works – in particular, the links between what you do, where you do it, how you do it and how it makes you feel.

Step 2 – Identify particular areas of life where the way you’re responding to depression isn’t helping and learn how to change the response.

Step 3 – Learn to approach difficult situations rather than avoid them.

Step 4 – Begin to address larger life issues that may put you at risk for developing another episode of depression.

Step 1 – If I can understand the relationship between what I do and how it makes me feel, I think I can start to combat the depression.

Step 2 – If I can change how I respond to depression, I think I will be able to manage it better. I am skeptical about how to make the change.

Step 3 – This is what will be most hard for me. I don’t know how to approach the difficult situations. I don’t know how to change my behaviour towards these.

Step 4 – I am a little skeptical about this step too. I don’t know if changing will really help.
